Julie and Chad's Boys: Just Starting Out

So I just decided it was high time I documented the lives of my darling boys. They are a joy in my life and I'm thankful everyday for them.

Be Consistent

Each family prayer, each episode of family scripture study, and each family home evening is a brushstroke on the canvas of our souls. No one event may appear to be very impressive or memorable.....our consistency in doing seemingly small things can lead to significant spiritual results. "Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great" (D&C 64:33) Consistency is a key principle as we lay the foundation of a great work in our individual lives and as we become more diligent and concerned in our own homes.

Tonight we had dinner at Chad's parents house. In McKay's prayer before we ate he said, "Please bless the food that it can make us feel good and bless that we wont spit any of it out...."

Mama, how come your bum is big? Is Daddy's bigger than yours?

McKay loves his friend EmmaLee and he is often on the playground playig house with her, usually carrying her babies wherever she wants them to go (He's gonna be such a good day someday.)

Because of the ponies at Grandpa Tom's, there are a lot of pesky flies around, and McKay and Tanner run around chasing them and saying "Show yer face you yellow bellied fly and telling Grandpa to SPANK the flies.

Mama, we need to go to Wendy's place, my belly is empty and it's asking for FOOD (Could it be we go to Wendy's way too much)

Recently, Mema asked McKay if he'd like some BBQ chips, to which he replied, "No, but I would like some GARBAGE-2 Chips." --I must have been saying it wrong all these years, who knew?

Today at church, McKay looked at Daddy and told him that they were wearing special shirts and ties because they were "Church Men", but as soon as church was over they needed to change their clothes so they could turn back into "Regular Men."

McKay was playing with Mr. Potato head when he accidently/on purpose threw him down the stairs. Then he went up to Papa and asked if he'd now be a "MASHED POTATO HEAD".

We were going into a building and McKay opened the door for me and said, "Allow me mama".

I need some Cocoa Puffs instead of this food you're trying to feed me....

I was eating a Corn Dog when he walked up to me and said, "Mama, what's that delicious thing called?"

He calls Mr. Potato Head Mr. PURTADO Head

Mama, Wa-Kay (McKay) needs some Wa-Jama's (Pajamas) on (what's with the Wa?)

Mama, whistling is going to be harder than I thought.

Daddy, do you want this or NO?

McKay to Tanner: You can either eat your food or give it to me, those are your choices....

Chad was trying to do something, and McKay leaned over and said, "That's the trick, Daddy."

McKay had a strep culture and after he was putting his hands in his mouth and pulling spit out all over the place and I asked him what in the world he was doing, then he said, "Mama, I'm just trying to get the OUCH out.

McKay scratched his chest and it was bleeding just a little, he looked at me all serious and said, "Mama, my heart is broken"...it was so sweet.

Daddy, it's time to go to sleep...see (as he looks out of the blinds) the dark lights are on....

Mama, I want some bread with some NO peanut butter, just some YEAH cheese....

When he wants your attention he'll say, "Ladies and Gentle Mama's".

After his baths he and his brothers love to put on their animal hooded towels and run out to the living room to ROAR at Daddy.

I pooped (long pause) in the potty!! Then proudly displays it with a flourish of his hand and a smirk.

2009-2010

At the store the other day, I was trying on a hat and T kept saying Oh Mama, you look bootiful, so bootiful...he is so incredibly sweet.

Sometimes if you ask if he wants something he says, "Of course YES" OR "of course NO".

Mama, I just weally, weally tirderd...(really, really tired)

Mama, I weally, weally hungry, what could I eat?

I've nicknamed Tanner and his friend Carter DOUBLE TROUBLE because when they're missing, they are often found up to no good in either our house or Carter's house

T LOVES Woody from Toy Story, and especially loves the neighbor Ethan's Woody that he got for his birthday. When I can't see him on the playground I have a pretty good idea he's walked the stairs up to Ethan's and has welcomed himself into the house and helped himself to Woody.

Tanner is an exhibitionist and LOVES to take his pants and shoes off the minute we get on the playground. I'm glad he's building his self-confidence by not caring about what others think, but it's slightly embarrassing when he does it in public.

Pank-U (His version of Thank You)

Mama, I need my CA-der (he says it like he has a Boston accent) He LOVES his little neighbor friend Carter and has serious withdrawals when I make him go in the house.

Tanner is a night owl, and during our MANY middle of the night moments, Tanner often says, "Mama, my bed needs to lay on couch." So I take his blanket and pillow to the couch tuck him in and go back to bed. (just because he's awake doesn't mean I have to be)

Mama, I found my SIPah-E(Sippee, he holds out the P)

Tanner had LOVED Scooby Doo lately and wants to watch it constantly. The other day, he was hungry and told me he needed a "Scooby Snack"...

Lets go to the PUAYGROUND, Pease Mama!

Tanner announced he needed to go potty, but he wears diapers and hasn't started potty training so Chad took off his diaper and Tanner "tried" for a minute but didn't go. He decided he was done so we clapped for him and said, yay Tanner, and then he took a bow, very proud of himself, you could almost hear him saying, Thank You, Thank you very much

Mama: Tanner do you want this?
T: No tanks mama
Mama: Are you sure?
T: Ya, I suah.

For Christmas, Tanner got a bell from Switzerland with his name engraved on it from my parents. Now, whenever he sees it, he says he wants to ring the "Tinkerbell", (as in Peter Pan's fairy)

Whenever I've been gone somewhere and come in the door, his eyes light up and with a cheesy grin he'll say, Maaaammmaaaa, Maaaammmaa, and follow me around for the next few minutes just to make sure I don'nt.

He calls popscicles HOG-A SCICLES

2009-2010

Grant loves to "ROAR" like a Dinosaur and chase his brothers down the hallway while they yell "Hurry, Grant's coming, let's hide. "....

When I go get him out of his crib in the morning, the Binkie has undoubtably landed on the floor and all I hear is Kiki, Kiki, until I get it for him.

If Grant doesn't see his brothers and wants them, he'll walk around the house calling Kay Kay, Kayyyyy Kayyyyy..then T says, no I Tan-a, and G says, Mo (NO) Kay, Kay. (He must think both of his brothers are named McKay.

Grant LOVES pictures of Jesus, so he'll stop us in front of every picture of Him he sees and says ESUS in his cute little voice...so cute!

He has followed in his brothers climbing footsteps and we regularly find him on the kitchen table, HELP!!

Today at Mema's he looked over at Jada (the dog) and Roared at her, she looked at him like WHAT DID I DO? SHEESH!

Grant and Tanner pucker up their lips and give each other kisses, Grant says, "MMMMUUUAAAHHH" as he's giving "T" a great big kiss.

When he was a new baby, I nicknamed him Little lion because he used to make little growling noises, now he ROARS when he can't reach something he wants, and the nickname lives on.....

He's becoming quite the playground daredevil at 15 months old, his first feat is climbing all the way up to the big slide, grinning from ear to ear, then turning around and sliding down all by himself, he also has decided to climb the arched monkey bar ladder and does not want help, Thank you very much.

When we say YAY Grant-Y...he claps with reckless abandon...SO CUTE!!!

He has a crazy way of waving...he just gets so excited and his arm just moves in random directions.

He loves to climb stairs and we regularly find him going up and down, although now that he can walk he tries to walk forward down the stairs.
